The After Work Program’s A Taste of Theater Festival is a theater experience to expose, educate and entertain a diverse audience of professional, intermediate and novice playwrights, thespians and production staff members.

WHAT HAPPENS AT THE EVENT?
The A Taste of Theater Festival is two full days of education and entertainment. Daytime classes for participants include topics regarding scripts, staging, actors, costumes, funding and promotion. Expert panelists share their knowledge and experiences with theatre production enthusiasts. Evening performances showcase playwrights from around the country. Registration to the A Taste of Theater Festival includes a seat at these performances. Additional tickets are available to the general public for sale.

AGENDA
• Daytime classes held from 9:00 am-3:45 pm.
• Evening performances, 6:30-9:30 pm, with local music artists and play productions
• A selected playwright is honored with the Shelly Garrett Award based on votes from the audience, an opportunity to work behind the scenes with Mr. Garrett and an opportunity to have their play performed in the city that they receive the most votes.  The second place Playwright will be given free entry into next years event.
